Do you love the look of hardwood, but not sure about its resiliency or maintenance? What about warranty for flood damage, scratching, and denting? How do you choose what wood is right for you?

Rise Above is here to help! The information below is advise from our professional staff with over 20 years of experience in flooring and construction.

Solid VS Engineered Hardwood

Engineered Hardwood has a reputation of not being real hardwood. Fortunately for those living in Arizona this is simply not true. Engineered hardwood consists of a layer of composite hardwood topped with a layer of real wood, and lacquered generously for protection with UV and Poly Urethane coatings. Manufacturers frequently offer warranties of between 30 and 50 years, which shows that they stand behind this product. Almost all engineered hardwood can be refinished, as long as the veneer is 2 mm or thicker. The thicker the veneer, the more times it can be refinished.

Engineered hardwoods are more forgiving for the environment. This type of hardwood can be installed in basements, high traffic areas, and even kitchens. The installation of Engineered wood is much easier (and therefore less expensive) due to the already manufactured click and lock systems. The Arizona heat and dry air destroys solid hard wood. Engineered wood requires a mildly humid environment, but with your much needed AC on the product should not get destroyed by the harsh climate in Arizona.

Engineered woods maintain their luster throughout the years. As with any natural surface the floors can change in color over time. This is part of the natural beauty of the wood veneer.
